Xabi Alonso on Stuttgart: "I'm exhausted after every game"
The former Bayern coach on his first few weeks in Stuttgart, the future of the club and his ambitions for the rest of the season.
Xabi Alonso has been in charge of Stuttgart for just over a month, but he's already made a big impact. The former Bayern Munich coach has guided the team to three wins from his first four games in charge, and they're now up to 13th in the Bundesliga table.
In an interview with the club's website, Alonso said he's enjoying his time in Stuttgart so far, but he knows there's still a lot of work to be done.
"I'm very happy to be here," he said. "Stuttgart is a great club with a rich history, and I'm excited to be a part of it."
Alonso said he's been impressed with the quality of the players at Stuttgart, and he believes they have the potential to achieve great things.
"We have a very talented squad," he said. "I'm confident that we can improve and move up the table."
Alonso said he's still getting to know his players, but he's already identified some areas where they need to improve.
"We need to be more consistent," he said. "We've played some good games, but we've also had some poor games. We need to find a way to be more consistent."
Alonso said he's also looking to improve the team's fitness.
"We need to be able to run more and press more," he said. "We need to be able to sustain our intensity for the whole 90 minutes."
Alonso said he's confident that Stuttgart can achieve their goals this season.
"I believe we can finish in the top half of the table," he said. "We have the quality to do it."
