Jets Place DT Leki Fotu On IR, Activate TE Kenny Yeboah
New York Jets Make Roster Moves Ahead of Week 18 Matchup
The New York Jets have placed defensive tackle Leki Fotu on injured reserve and activated tight end Kenny Yeboah from the practice squad ahead of their Week 18 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. Fotu suffered a calf injury in the Jets' Week 17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, while Yeboah has been elevated from the practice squad twice this season and has yet to make his NFL debut.
Fotu's Injury and Impact on Jets Defense
Fotu has been a key contributor to the Jets' defense this season, starting 15 games and recording 34 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and three tackles for loss. His absence leaves a void in the Jets' defensive line, which has struggled to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks at times this season. Rookie defensive tackle Jermaine Johnson II is expected to start in Fotu's place.
Yeboah's Activation and Potential Role
Yeboah, a former undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss, has impressed the Jets' coaching staff with his athleticism and receiving skills. He has good size at 6'4" and 240 pounds and could provide the Jets with another target in the passing game. However, Yeboah is still a raw prospect and may not be ready to contribute significantly in Week 18.
The Jets are currently 7-9 and need a win over the Dolphins to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The Dolphins, who are 8-8, are also fighting for a playoff spot, so the game is expected to be competitive. The Jets will need to play well in all three phases of the game to secure the victory.
