Jungfrau Railway Suffers Technical Difficulties, Halting Operations and Trapping Passengers
On Thursday, July 20th, an unexpected technical issue brought Switzerland's iconic Jungfrau Railway to a standstill, leaving approximately 1,000 passengers stranded inside the train.
According to railway officials, the incident occurred at around 11:30 AM local time, when a technical malfunction caused the train to stop abruptly between the Eiger Glacier and Jungfraujoch stations.
Passengers Evacuated Safely Through Emergency Tunnels
Emergency protocols were swiftly activated, and passengers were safely evacuated through emergency tunnels to the Jungfraujoch station, located approximately 3,454 meters above sea level.
