Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss Have Chance to Do Something Special as College Football Playoff Expands

With the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams in the near future, Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have a golden opportunity to make some noise on the national stage.

In just three seasons under Kiffin's leadership, the Rebels have gone from a 5-5 squad in 2019 to back-to-back 10-win seasons in 2021 and 2022.

Why is This Important?

The expanded playoff format gives teams like Ole Miss a greater chance to compete for a national championship.

In the current four-team playoff system, only the top four teams in the country have a realistic shot at winning it all.

With 12 teams in the playoff, however, teams from non-Power 5 conferences like Ole Miss will have a much better chance of crashing the party.

What are the Challenges?

Of course, there are still some challenges that Kiffin and Ole Miss will need to overcome in order to reach the College Football Playoff.

The Rebels will need to continue to improve their recruiting, and they will need to find a way to win more games against top-tier competition.

But if they can do those things, there's no reason why Ole Miss can't be one of the teams competing for a national championship in the near future.
