West Virginia Schools Cancel Classes Ahead of WVU-Penn State Game, Live Pat McAfee Show Over ‘Traffic’ Concerns

WVU-Penn State Game

West Virginia schools are canceling classes early on Saturday, November 12, 2023, due to anticipated traffic congestion from fans traveling to the West Virginia University vs. Penn State University football game at Milan Puskar Stadium.

West Virginia officials cited “extreme traffic congestion” and “limited parking” as reasons for the decision to close schools early.

The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET, and Morgantown police are expecting heavy traffic around the stadium and throughout the city.

Pat McAfee Live Show

The Pat McAfee Show, a popular sports talk show hosted by former NFL punter Pat McAfee, will also be held in Morgantown on Saturday.

The show is set to take place at the Morgantown Event Center at 7 p.m. ET, and McAfee has warned fans of potential traffic delays.

“If you’re coming to the show, give yourself plenty of extra time to get there,” McAfee said in a video posted to social media.

Safety First

School officials and law enforcement are urging fans to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel on Saturday.

“We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable time on Saturday,” Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston said.

“Please be patient with traffic, and make sure to follow the directions of law enforcement officers.”
