Uzwil SG: Man (32) injured to an unknown degree in car fire

Uzwil SG - On Monday (August 15, 2022), a car caught fire on the A1 motorway near Uzwil SG. A 32-year-old man was injured to an unknown extent.

Cause of the accident still unclear

The accident happened on Monday afternoon around 5:45 p.m. on the A1 motorway in the direction of Zurich, between the Uzwil and Flawil junctions. For reasons that are still unclear, a car caught fire while driving. The driver was able to stop his vehicle on the hard shoulder and get out.

The fire brigade was quickly on site and was able to extinguish the fire. However, the car was completely destroyed. The 32-year-old driver was taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries of unknown severity.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated by the St. Gallen cantonal police.
