The Triple Team: Lauri Markkanen sits due to injury as Jazz lose to Kings
Jazz drop third straight game despite Clarkson's 24 points
Markkanen's absence a big blow to struggling Jazz offense
The Utah Jazz's struggles continued on Monday night as they fell 117-101 to the Sacramento Kings at home. The loss marked the Jazz's third consecutive defeat and dropped their record to 12-13 on the season.
Lauri Markkanen, who missed Saturday's game against the Golden State Warriors due to a right hip injury, was once again out of the lineup on Monday. Markkanen is the Jazz's leading scorer and rebounder, and his absence was a major blow to the team's offense.
Without Markkanen, the Jazz struggled to generate offense. They shot just 41.7% from the field and 30.6% from three-point range. Jordan Clarkson led the Jazz with 24 points, but he was the only player to score more than 15 points.
The Kings, meanwhile, were able to take advantage of the Jazz's defensive lapses. De'Aaron Fox led the way for the Kings with 26 points and 10 assists, while Domantas Sabonis added 22 points and 14 rebounds.
The Jazz are now 1-4 in their last five games and have fallen to 12th place in the Western Conference standings. They will look to get back on track on Wednesday night when they host the New Orleans Pelicans.
