Swinney on a True Freshman OL Who ‘Is Really Coming On’
Clemson’s Cade Klubnik has high hopes for Marcus Tate
Tate arrived on campus in June as an early enrollee
After going through spring practice and now fall camp, Dabo Swinney likes what he sees from true freshman offensive lineman Marcus Tate.
Tate arrived on campus in June as an early enrollee and has quickly impressed the coaching staff with his physicality and athleticism.
“Marcus Tate is a guy that’s really coming on,” Swinney said after Tuesday’s practice. “He’s a big, physical guy. He’s got really good feet. He’s a really good athlete. He’s got a lot of upside.
Tate is still learning the ropes, but Swinney is confident that he has a bright future at Clemson.
"He’s a guy that we’re really excited about,” Swinney said. “He’s got a chance to be a really good player for us.”
Tate is one of several true freshmen who have impressed the coaching staff this fall.
- Cade Klubnik, the five-star quarterback from Austin, Texas
- Adam Randall, the four-star wide receiver from Buford, Georgia
- Toriano Pride, the four-star cornerback from Tuscaloosa, Alabama
These players are all expected to contribute to Clemson’s success this season and beyond.
