Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has backed under-fire manager Darren Ferguson, describing him as 'a good football man'.

Ferguson has come under increasing pressure following a poor start to the season, with Posh currently sitting bottom of the Championship table.

However, MacAnthony has insisted that he retains full confidence in Ferguson and that he is the right man to turn things around at London Road.

"Darren is a good football man and he knows what he's doing," MacAnthony said. "He's got a good track record and I'm sure he'll turn things around.

Ferguson, who is in his second spell as Peterborough manager, has guided the club to two promotions during his time in charge.

However, Posh have struggled for form in recent months and have not won a league game since March.

Despite the poor results, MacAnthony has urged fans to be patient and to give Ferguson time to turn things around.

"I know the fans are frustrated, but I'm asking them to be patient," MacAnthony said. "Darren is a good manager and I'm sure he'll get us out of this mess."

Peterborough's next game is at home to Hull City on Saturday.
