Lumberjacks start the 2023 season with impressive win!

NAU Athletics: News for August 26, 2023

The Northern Arizona University football team put on a dominating performance in their season opener on Saturday, August 26th, against Lincoln University.

The Lumberjacks defense set the tone for the game, forcing three turnovers and holding Lincoln to just 10 points.

Offensively, NAU was firing on all cylinders, racking up 459 total yards and scoring 38 points.

• The running game was led by junior running back Draycen Hall, who rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns.
• Quarterback RJ Martinez was efficient through the air, completing 16 of 24 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns.
• Wide receiver Jamal Glaspie was Martinez's favorite target, hauling in six catches for 100 yards and a touchdown.

The Lumberjacks' victory was a statement to the rest of the Big Sky Conference that they are a force to be reckoned with in 2023.

NAU will look to continue their winning ways next Saturday, September 2nd, when they travel to face the University of Montana.
