Summer Travel Season Closes with Busy Labor Day Weekend
Millions of Americans Hit the Road for the Last Getaway of the Season
Traffic Expected to Be Heavy in Major Cities and Tourist Destinations
The summer travel season is coming to an end with the Labor Day weekend, which is expected to be one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.
AAA predicts that more than 39 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home over the holiday weekend. That's up 3.9% from last year.
The most popular destinations for Labor Day travelers are expected to be national parks, beaches, and cities.
If you're planning to travel over the Labor Day weekend, be sure to plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.
Here are some tips for avoiding traffic delays:
- Leave early or late in the day.
- Avoid driving during peak travel times.
- Take alternate routes if possible.
- Be patient and allow for extra travel time.
If you're flying, be sure to check in online and arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight.
No matter how you're traveling, be sure to pack your patience and enjoy the holiday weekend!
