The Mindset of the Texas Tech football team needs to improve. Coach Joey McGuire, in his first season, has made it a point of emphasis to change the losing culture in Lubbock.

The team has shown signs of improvement this season, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

McGuire knows that changing the culture will not be easy, but he is committed to doing so.

Fast Start

Tech football has been notorious for being slow-starters this season. They have combined to be outscored 38-3 in the first quarter of their first 3 games.

In week 2 against Stephen F. Austin, Tech's defense gave up a 75-yard touchdown drive on the first drive of the game.

Tech's offense has also struggled to get going early in games. They have yet to score a touchdown in the first quarter this season.

McGuire is aware of the team's slow starts and is working to correct the issue. He has made a point of emphasizing the importance of starting fast in practice.

Points of Improvement

The Red Raiders have several areas that need improvement on both sides of the ball.

Offensively, the team needs to improve its passing game. Quarterback Tyler Shough has been inconsistent this season, and the receivers have not been able to get open consistently.

Defensively, the team needs to improve its tackling. They have missed too many tackles this season, which has led to big plays for the opposition.

McGuire is confident that the team can improve in these areas and become a contender in the Big 12 Conference.
