Marcus Williams Says He’s ‘Moving Forward’
Baltimore Orioles
Marcus Williams stated he's "moving forward" after news of his wife's infidelity broke.
The Baltimore Orioles shortstop was thrust into the spotlight in April when his wife, Amber, was arrested and charged with domestic battery after an alleged dispute between the couple. The incident occurred while Williams was away with the team on a road trip.
‘It Was A Difficult Time’
While addressing reporters for the first time since the ordeal, Williams understandably declined to go into detail about the situation.
"It was a difficult time for me and my family," Williams said. "But we're moving forward. We're getting the help that we need. And we're going to make it through this together."
Williams added that he appreciates the support he has received from his teammates, coaches, and the Orioles organization during this difficult time.
‘There’s Nothing I Can Do About It’
When asked about the possibility of reconciling with his wife, Williams said he is focused on his career and his family.
"That's a decision that Amber and I will make together," Williams said. "But right now, I'm just focused on playing baseball and being there for my kids."
Williams also said he is not concerned about how the incident will affect his performance on the field.
"I can't control what other people think or say about me," Williams said. "All I can do is focus on what I can control. And that's playing baseball."
Statistically Similar
Through 50 games this season, Williams is batting .285 with 4 home runs and 22 RBIs.
Those numbers are nearly identical to his production from last season, when he batted .272 with 4 home runs and 23 RBIs in 55 games.
Moving Forward
The Orioles are currently in third place in the AL East with a record of 25-25.
Williams is a key part of the Orioles' offense, and his continued production will be important for the team's success this season.
