Marcus Williams Isn't Talking About What Got Him Benched Last Week
Patriots Quarterback Declines to Discuss Details of Coach's Decision
Williams Says He's Focused on Moving Forward and Helping the Team Win
New England Patriots quarterback Marcus Williams was benched in the team's Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Williams declined to discuss the details of the coach's decision when asked about it by reporters on Monday.
"I'm not going to get into the specifics of what happened," Williams said. "That's between me and the coaches. I'm just focused on moving forward and helping the team win."
Williams was benched in favor of veteran backup Brian Hoyer in the second half of the Patriots' 24-10 loss to the Bills. Hoyer led the Patriots to a touchdown on his first drive, but the team was unable to score again in the second half.
Williams did not play in the Patriots' Week 14 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Hoyer started in his place and threw for 322 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots' 27-13 victory.
Williams is expected to start for the Patriots in their Week 15 game against the Miami Dolphins. He said he's prepared to do whatever it takes to help the team win.
"I'm just trying to be the best quarterback I can be," Williams said. "I'm going to continue to work hard and try to improve every day. I'm confident that I can help this team win."
