Luther Film Service in Christuskirche in Eppstein
Eppstein - On Sunday, October 30 at 5 pm, the Christuskirche will be showing the film "Luther" as part of a film service.
The film from 2003 shows the decisive scenes of Martin Luther's life. These include his student days in Erfurt when he still wanted to become a lawyer, but then became a monk in the monastery after surviving a thunderstorm.
The film shows the key moments in his life
The film "Luther" shows how he lives there as a monk, but cannot come to terms with his own sins and with God. He feels unable to earn his salvation through good works and prayers. Only when he understands that he can trust in God's grace alone does he find peace.
In the castle church in Wittenberg, he finally finds the decisive Bible text for him: "The just shall live by faith." He sees this as God's answer to his questions and develops a new understanding of faith. The rest is history. Luther triggers the Reformation, changes Christianity and thus the whole of Europe.
The film is shown as part of the cultural offerings of the Protestant parish of Eppstein-Vockenhausen. Viewers are cordially invited to the film service with a short liturgy on October 30th, 2022 at 5 pm in the Christuskirche on the Kirchberg in Eppstein.
