Jets Release TE Anthony Firkser, Activate TE Kenny Yeboah In Series Of Moves
Anthony Firkser Released
The New York Jets have announced that they have released veteran tight end Anthony Firkser. Firkser was acquired via trade from the Tennessee Titans in March. The 27-year old had 37 receptions for 408 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games in his only season with the Jets. Firkser was expected to compete for the starting tight end role this season, but he was unable to beat out Tyler Conklin and C.J. Uzomah on the depth chart.
Kenny Yeboah Activated
To replace Firkser, the Jets activated tight end Kenny Yeboah from injured reserve. Yeboah has been out since suffering a hamstring injury in the preseason. The Jets were hoping to have Yeboah back earlier this season, but he was unable to pass a physical. The 24-year old Yeboah has played in 18 games in his career with the Jets, where he has caught 11 passes for 112 yards.
Other Roster Moves
The Jets also made a few other roster moves on Monday. The Jets released cornerback Bryce Hall and signed cornerback Isaiah Dunn. Hall was acquired by the Jets in a trade with the New York Giants last season. The 25-year old Hall played in 15 games for the Jets in 2022, starting 12. Dunn is an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech. He spent the 2022 season on the practice squad of the Houston Texans.
Conclusion
The Jets have been busy making roster moves in recent weeks. The team is hoping to improve its record after starting the season 1-3. The Jets will look to get back on track this week when they face the Cincinnati Bengals on the road.
