EHC Munich celebrates goaltending talent Wolf
The EHC Red Bull Munich has a new goalkeeper for the upcoming season. The German champion signed 21-year-old Benedikt Wolf from the Iserlohn Roosters, as the club announced on Thursday. Wolf is considered one of the greatest German goaltending talents and has already played for the national team.
In Munich, Wolf should initially be the number two behind national goalkeeper Danny aus den Birken. However, the youngster wants to attack and establish himself in the long term. "I am very happy about the opportunity to play for EHC Red Bull Munich. It is a great challenge for me, but I am sure that I can take the next step in my development here," said Wolf.
EHC sports director Christian Winkler is also convinced of Wolf's qualities: "Benedikt Wolf is a very talented goalkeeper who has already proven his skills in the DEL. We are confident that he can develop further with us and help us to achieve our goals." Wolf is expected to join the EHC training camp on August 1.
Wolf's statistics from the 2021/22 season:
- Games played: 31
- Goals against average: 2.84
- Save percentage: 90.9%
- Shutouts: 3
Wolf is the second new signing for the EHC after the commitment of striker Andreas Eder from Eisbären Berlin.
