Gardaí investigate after scores turn up to find no parade

Hundreds of people in Dublin were left disappointed after turning up to a fake Halloween parade on Sunday.

The event, which was advertised on social media, claimed to be taking place on O'Connell Street.

However, when people arrived at the advertised location, they found no parade taking place.

Gardaí are now investigating the incident.


The fake event was advertised on a number of social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.

It claimed to be a "family-friendly" event with "something for everyone".

However, many of those who turned up were left disappointed.


"I was really looking forward to the parade," said one woman.

"I brought my kids along and they were so excited."

"But when we got here, there was nothing."


Another person said: "This is just a disgrace."

"People have been looking forward to this all week."

"It's not fair to get people's hopes up like this."


Gardaí are now investigating the incident.

They are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for the Gardaí said: "We are aware of the incident and we are investigating."

"We would appeal to anyone with information to come forward."
