Pasadena Residents Report Shaking, No Major Damage or Injuries
A 2.9 magnitude earthquake struck the Pasadena area on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 10:31 a.m. PST. The epicenter of the quake was located about 2 miles northwest of Pasadena, near the Rose Bowl.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake had a depth of about 6 miles. Residents reported feeling shaking throughout Pasadena and surrounding communities, including Altadena, La CaƱada Flintridge, and South Pasadena.
No Major Damage or Injuries Reported
There were no reports of major damage or injuries as a result of the earthquake. However, some residents reported minor damage to their homes, such as cracked walls or broken dishes. The Pasadena Fire Department responded to a few calls for service, but no major incidents were reported.
The earthquake was the largest to hit the Pasadena area in several years. In 2019, a 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck the same area, causing minor damage but no injuries.
