Bayer Leverkusen likely to be without defensive talent Belocian for the next few weeks
He suffered a muscle fibre tear in training
According to "Bild," Bayer Leverkusen will be without young defensive talent Sadik Belocian for the next few weeks. The 17-year-old suffered a muscle fibre tear in training and will likely miss the upcoming Bundesliga and DFB Cup matches.
This is a setback for Leverkusen, who have been impressed with Belocian's performances in the pre-season. The left-back has been training with the first team and was expected to make his Bundesliga debut this season.
Leverkusen will now have to find a replacement for Belocian, with Daley Sinkgraven and Mitchell Bakker as potential options.
Belocian is a highly rated prospect
Belocian moved to Leverkusen from VfB Stuttgart in 2020. He has been capped by Germany at youth level and is considered one of the best young defenders in the country.
He has made two appearances for Leverkusen's first team, both in the DFB Cup. He was named in the Bundesliga squad for the first time last season but did not make an appearance.
Leverkusen will hope that Belocian recovers quickly from his injury and that he can make his Bundesliga debut this season.
