A train accident near Bobingen halted railway operations for several hours

After a serious train accident, the train was back on schedule in the early afternoon. Due to the incident, rail transport was completely shut down for about six hours. Initially, there was talk of a delay of 120 minutes. A person was injured when two trains crashed near Bobingen (Augsburg district) on Tuesday morning. He had to be freed by the fire department. The accident occurred around 9.30 near the Inningen stop.
According to the police, the accident occurred when a regional train from Gessertshausen to Augsburg collided with a freight train. The train driver of the regional train, who was slightly injured, was trapped and had to be rescued by the fire brigade.
Several delays and train cancellations
The tracks were closed until around 3:45 p.m. because of the rescue work and the accident investigation. Long-distance traffic was diverted for several hours, and regional trains were canceled or had to be diverted. Because of this, there were delays and failures in regional and long-distance traffic.
The federal police have started investigations into the cause of the accident.
